Preparing for Floor Fitting
As with so many other things, preparation for fitting wooden floors is key. Once a start date has been confirmed then it is important to prepare. All furniture needs to be removed from the space. Existing floor coverings also need to be removed. Whether this is carpet or other alternatives. All existing floorboards need to be secure.
Having a stable subfloor is key. It is important to try and pre-empt any issues such as previous building work. Have rooms been joined together? Are there hidden hearths? The main consideration is whether there may be any differences in levels of the floor.
You will need to anticipate any features that need to appear below your new wood floor. Are you considering under floor heating? Would you like any wiring to be hidden for surround-sound? All wiring needs to be laid prior to any work starting.
