These images show us refinishing wood floors as part of a larger project in Leamington Spa. We were invited to restore multiple rooms for a house originally built in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. It is a six-bedroom, four storey house oozing with character and beautiful charm.
The first room we tackled was the guest bedroom. We figured that it would be a good idea to start at the top and work down. Out of all the wood floors, this room had the most repairs. The outer edges were heavily covered in bitumen. Most of the floor was splatted with plaster dust and paint too. We set to sanding once all of the repairs had been completed. The floor was finished with a premium quality primer and two coats of premium lacquer from Pallmann.
This is often part of the challenge for those undertaking wood restoration projects. Most are unsure of what wood products to use and how they are best to be applied. Time spent and invested on sanding wood floors can be lost if the wood finish is not applied correctly. It is vital to know how to apply the finish products and which products will offer the best outcome.
